Student answer (Band 5.5)

In a daily life of an average worker they get busy during their work and get stressed and exhausting life which leads to many working people get little or no exercise either during the working day or in their free time, and have health problems as a result. Which will eventually lead to dying early or getting extremely sick which isn't beneficial to their family nor them. By taking atleast half an hour daily for themselves would help them overcome their stress and anger management that working people get from work.

Many working people not get enough excercise because sometimes they are lazy and sometimes they cant manage their time properly that leads to health problems like some sort of diseases or back pains etc. Like my parents they are working people so they don't get time for excercising and it's really frustrating to see them getting no excercise which does lead to constant back pain and health issues. Even though my dad works as a construction worker he still does have to get some stretching and casual excercise that would stop his back pain and vanish his health issues.

This problem can be solved by the way working people want to be in future or fix their mindset in get healthy and fit. And if they do make a excercise or yoga routine that could help them stay fit and healthy. By excersing daily it would benefit the mental and physical health both which is great for the future life of the working people and their family aswell.

By atleast taking only one hour and excersing the working people would have less problems in their life and would get fit which would eventually put all the health issues away and give the working people a much more better life

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt by discussing reasons why working people lack exercise—such as stress, laziness, and poor time management—and suggesting solutions, including establishing exercise routines and changing mindsets. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on reasons relies heavily on generalisations and personal anecdotes, like mentioning parents and a construction worker father, rather than fully exploring broader societal or economic factors. The position is generally clear throughout the text, but the supporting points lack depth and precision, aligning best with Band 5 or 6. Because the response does attempt to answer all questions, it reaches the lower threshold of Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay has a coherent overall arrangement and attempts to organise ideas into four paragraphs representing an introduction, reasons, solutions, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. There are noticeable issues with referencing and sentence boundary punctuation, such as fragment sentences starting with 'Which will eventually lead to...' and 'By taking atleast half an hour...'. Furthermore, transitional phrases between paragraphs are weak, and the logical progression stalls due to run-on sentences and repetitive phrasing, such as reiterating the need to take time to exercise across multiple paragraphs. These limitations place the text firmly at Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, touching upon everyday terms related to work, stress, and health. However, there are numerous word choice errors, awkward collocations, and spelling mistakes throughout the text, such as 'excercise', 'excersing', 'exhausting life', and 'vanish his health issues'. Less common lexical items are attempted but often misused, and repetition of basic words like 'working people', 'health', and 'exercise' limits the precision and flexibility of the writing. These persistent inaccuracies mean the lexical resource best fits the Band 5 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of structures, with attempts at complex sentences frequently resulting in grammatical errors and fragmented phrasing. Many sentences lack main clauses or contain significant punctuation errors, such as 'Which will eventually lead to dying early' and 'Many working people not get enough excercise because...'. There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and word order that cause difficulty for the reader and obscure meaning in places. Because simple sentences are mixed with heavily flawed complex structures and frequent errors, a Band 5 score is appropriate.
