Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by explaining why working people lack exercise and suggesting practical solutions. The candidate covers reasons such as long working hours, physically demanding jobs, and social responsibilities. Solutions are also provided, including government awareness campaigns and corporate wellness initiatives like mandated exercise time. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or contain sweeping generalizations, and the conclusion is extremely abrupt and unfinished. Despite these minor limitations, the main prompt questions are sufficiently answered, corresponding well to the Band 6 descriptor where all parts are addressed with relevant ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a logical overall progression with basic paragraphing. The candidate attempts to use transitional markers such as 'To commence', 'First of all', and 'In conclusion' to signal structure. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally faulty or mechanical, such as the redundant phrasing 'some of individuals have heavy physical work'. Paragraphing is present, but the abrupt ending lacks a fully formed concluding sentence. The flow is maintained well enough for the reader to follow the argument without significant confusion, placing it comfortably at Band 6.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, though it contains notable errors in word choice and spelling ('evantually', 'plathora', 'plumbering', 'enegy', 'prominant'). The student attempts less common vocabulary ('contemporary era', 'wellness', 'corporate'), but these attempts frequently show inaccuracies in collocation and form. While the meaning is generally clear despite these lexical flaws, the frequent spelling slips and unnatural phrasing restrict the score to a Band 5.5, reflecting a mix of minimally adequate range and noticeable vocabulary errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures. However, frequent grammatical errors occur throughout the text, such as tense and agreement issues ('exercise have been playing', 'So many individuals, who are having job, they have been spending'), missing prepositions, and awkward punctuation. While these errors rarely completely impede communication, their high frequency across most complex structures prevents the writing from achieving a Band 6, placing it firmly at Band 5.
