Student answer (Band 5.5)

In contemporary society, individuals are so indulge in their busy routine that they do not have time to pursue any physical activity. Let alone taking out time for exercise they do not have time to do even little workout. This essay will address why many employees do not have time for exercise and what can be done to resolve this issue.

Nowadays, workplace so occupied the employees that they do not have time to look after their health. After a long tiring day an individual does not have enough energy to do some exercise. Even on weekends an employee prefer to take rest instead of going out with friends on hiking or climbing.

Moreover, not involving in any physical activity will eventually lead to many health problems in future. For instance, prolong sitting at one place mostly in front of the screen at the workplace will affect the eye sights as well as body posture, and in future there will be the chance of slip disc. Moreover, not being physical active in working space also cause obesity after some time, which will lead to heart disease, high cholesterol and diabetes.

It is an employer responsibility to take measures for the wellbeing of his employees so that in the future they do not face health issues. For instance, he can arrange any outdoor activity for his employee twice a year, or allow a frequent breaks during working hour. Moreover, he can also arrange any activity at office once a month. Additionally, if an employee has excess workload then it is an employer responsibility to hire more work force.

In my perspective, one should not neglect his health because if you are healthy and active you can have another job. In addition, an individual can be replaced at any time at work but he is valuable for his family, therefore, he should prioritized himself before anything else.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, exploring the reasons why working people lack exercise and suggesting practical solutions. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed; for instance, the effects of a sedentary lifestyle are mentioned briefly, and the solutions could be explored with more depth and specific examples. Despite these minor limitations, all parts of the prompt are covered reasonably well, aligning closely with the Band 6 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct ideas, such as causes in the second paragraph, consequences in the third, and solutions in the fourth. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'Moreover' to start consecutive paragraphs. Referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression between sentences occasionally falters, placing the response firmly at Band 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases like 'contemporary society,' 'sedentary lifestyle' (implied), and 'wellbeing.' However, there are noticeable word choice and form errors, such as 'are so indulge' instead of 'are so indulged,' 'workplace so occupied the employees,' and 'eye sights.' Spelling is mostly accurate, but the lexical inaccuracies occasionally cause slight hesitation for the reader, which is characteristic of Band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence forms attempted throughout the response. However, grammatical errors are frequent, particularly with verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions (e.g., 'not involving in any physical activity,' 'prolong sitting,' 'not being physical active,' 'frequent breaks,' 'an employer responsibility'). Although these errors do not severely impede overall communication, they persist across the text, preventing the response from reaching a Band 7.
