Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays many working people do not get enough exercise. They spend a large part of their day at work and often feel too tired to exercise after returning home. This can cause several health problems. There are a number of reasons for this situation and some simple ways to deal with it.
One main reason is long working hours. Many employees work for eight or more hours a day and have other responsibilities at home. After cooking, cleaning or taking care of their families, they may not have enough time or energy to exercise. Another reason is that many modern jobs require people to sit at a desk for most of the day. Office workers can spend hours using computers without moving much. In addition, many people spend their free time watching television or using their phones instead of doing physical activities.
There are several ways to solve this problem. Employers can encourage workers to be more active during the working day. For example, they could provide short exercise breaks or organise simple fitness activities at the workplace. People can also make small changes to their daily routines. They could walk to work if the distance is reasonable or take a walk during their lunch break. Even a short daily workout can improve their health when it becomes a regular habit.
In conclusion, long working hours and inactive jobs are two major reasons why many working people do not exercise enough. Modern lifestyles also encourage people to spend their free time sitting. Employers and individuals should therefore work together to make physical activity a regular part of everyday life. This can help people stay healthier without requiring a large amount of extra time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response fully addresses all parts of the task by clearly explaining why many working people do not get enough exercise, such as long working hours and sedentary jobs, and offers logical solutions including employer-supported wellness initiatives and individual routine changes. The ideas are well-developed and supported with relevant examples, such as office workers sitting at desks and the role of screen time in free hours. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. The response meets all the requirements of Task 2 effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a clear logical organization and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct and appropriate focus: the introduction outlines the scope, the second paragraph details the causes, the third paragraph provides practical solutions, and the conclusion summarizes the main points effectively. Cohesive devices such as 'One main reason', 'Another reason', and 'For example' are used appropriately to guide the reader through the text, although transitions could occasionally be more sophisticated to reach higher band levels.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
The vocabulary used is sufficient for the task and allows the writer to convey ideas with precision. The student successfully employs relevant topical terminology such as 'sedentary', 'responsibilities', 'routines', and 'fitness activities'. There are occasional attempts at less common lexical items, and word choices are generally accurate and natural, enabling the communication of ideas without causing any difficulty for the reader. Spelling and word formation are accurate throughout.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The writing exhibits a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional or relative clauses such as 'Employees can encourage workers to be more active during the working day' and 'They could walk to work if the distance is reasonable'. There is a high frequency of error-free sentences, and control of grammar and punctuation is strong. While the range of complex structures is somewhat standard rather than wide, the minor errors are extremely rare, reflecting solid command over sentence mechanics.
