Student answer (Band 6.5)
In today's evolving world, many employees spend most of their time for working on desk and have little time for physical activities. Although this problem is mainly caused by working long hours, increasing use of technology and sedentary lifestyles. However, it can be solved through changes in workplace policies and people's daily routines.
Out of all the arguments, one of main reasons of not doing exercise is that many employees work long hours and demanding responsibilities, which leaves them mentally and physically exhausted at end of the day. That is to say, after long and hectic working day, many employees prefers to stay home for relax rather than going to the gym or participating outdoor activities. Moreover, a large number of modern jobs require employees to sit front of computers for several hours, as they spend almost the entire working day in a sedentary position. In addition, the widespread use of cars and others forms of convenient transportation has reduced the amount oh physical activities. For instance, an office worker who drives to work, sits at a desk for eight hours and then spends the evening watching TV, may very little physical activity during the whole day.
Nevertheless, there are several practical measures that could help to tackle this issue. Firstly, employers should encourage workers to exercise by providing facilities such as small gyms and outdoor activities areas. They should introduce short exercise breaks during the working day, which would not only improve employees physical health but also help them remain focused and productive at work. Secondly, Governments could promote active forms of transportation by proving cycle lanes and public transport systems. Finally, individuals should make some habit of doing exercise regularly and going for walk after dinner, which could help them to stay active and healthy.
In conclusion, the lack of exercise among working people is largely the result of long working hours, sedentary occupations and modern lifestyles. However, if employers provide opportunities for physical activity, governments create better options and individuals make small changes to their daily habits, this problems can be significantly reduced.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses both parts of the prompt by explaining why many working people fail to get enough exercise and suggesting practical solutions for the issue. The introduction clearly outlines the causes and solutions, maintaining a clear position throughout. The main body paragraphs provide relevant and well-developed ideas, such as long working hours, sedentary desk jobs, and reliance on convenient transportation. The solutions proposed, including workplace wellness initiatives, government-backed infrastructure like cycle lanes, and individual habit changes, are fully extended with supporting explanations and examples. For instance, the example of the office worker vividly illustrates the sedentary nature of modern employment. Overall, the task is fully covered with well-sustained arguments, aligning closely with the Band 7 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay displays a clear overall progression and logical organization from introduction to conclusion. Ideas are grouped logically into paragraphs, with each paragraph focusing on a distinct theme, such as causes in the second paragraph and solutions in the third. Cohesive devices such as 'Out of all the arguments', 'Moreover', 'In addition', 'Nevertheless', and 'Firstly' are used to connect ideas, although the transition in the introductory paragraph ("Although this problem is mainly caused by... However, it can be solved...") creates a sentence fragment error. Paragraphing is used appropriately throughout, and referencing is generally clear, ensuring the reader can easily follow the progression of arguments. This performance is consistent with the criteria for Band 6.5 or a solid Band 7.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate and generally appropriate range of vocabulary for the task. Less common lexical items are attempted with some success, such as 'sedentary lifestyles', 'mentally and physically exhausted', and 'practical measures'. However, there are a few word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'time for working on desk' instead of 'working at a desk', 'stay home for relax' instead of 'stay home to relax', 'sitting front of computers' instead of 'sitting in front of computers', and 'others forms' instead of 'other forms'. Despite these occasional errors, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the message clearly without impeding communication, representing a standard Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at varied structures. However, grammatical control is somewhat inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors, particularly in the introduction where a dependent clause starts with 'Although' but lacks an independent main clause to complete the thought, resulting in a sentence fragment. Other errors include missing pluralization ('others forms'), preposition errors ('at end of the day' instead of 'at the end of the day'), and articles ('a hectic working day'). While complex sentences are attempted, they frequently contain minor inaccuracies. Nevertheless, the meaning remains clear and communication is rarely impeded, comfortably placing this in the Band 6 category.
