Student answer (Band 6.0)

It has been observed that most of the working people get little or no exercise during the working day or even in their free time and following sedentary life style. Consequently, they have to deal with health issues. There are many reasons of this phenomenon. To resolve this problem people can do several things.

There are several reasons why people are not getting involved to do enough exercise. Firstly, lack of time in a day an individual may not be able to spend little time from their busy schedule from thier work. For example, an individual has to deal with so many responsibilities such as completing office work and fulfilling family responsibilities. Moreover, lack of energy they are unable to spend more time in other activities such as exercising. After coming back from the work they might be stressed out because of their busy and hactic work schedule. Apart from these, it has been seen that people are spending their after-work time with their friends or families to get relax and to develop a strong bond. As a result, an individual has to face problems related to health like weight gain, muscule and bone may get weaker, poorer blood circulations and more.

There are several measures that can be taken to address this problem. To begin with, such facilities like gym can be improved at workplace for every employee. So that they might get motivated by seeing others to do exercise after completing their work. Secondly, the government should run some free exercise related program to help and motivate to improve an individual's health. Also, fees structure should be affordable for an individual so that they can afford and can go to the gym everyday. As a result, it will be a good change in people's lives and health.

To conclude, people should focus and prioritize their health first even after busy work schedule. To mitigate this problem government should also take some steps like running exercise program so that people get motivated and can continue to go to gym for exercising.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by explaining both the reasons why working people lack exercise and suggesting measures to resolve the issue. The student identifies causes such as lack of time, exhaustion, and family commitments, and offers solutions including workplace gym facilities and government programs. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or repetitive, such as the multiple mentions of motivation and government programs. The position is clear throughout, and relevant examples and consequences are provided, such as weight gain and muscle weakness. This aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors, as all parts are addressed though some ideas could be extended further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, separating the introduction, causes, solutions, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'To begin with'. However, some cohesive links feel a bit mechanical or are slightly awkward grammatically, such as 'Apart from these' and 'So that they might get motivated'. Referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression between sentences within paragraphs occasionally stumbles due to phrasing issues. Overall, the organization is sufficient for a Band 6 score.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'sedentary life style', 'responsibilities', and 'affordable'. There are several attempts to use less common vocabulary, but these are sometimes marred by word choice or collocation errors, such as 'hactic work schedule' instead of hectic, and 'muscule and bone may get weaker' instead of muscles and bones. Spelling errors like 'thier' also occur. While communication is never impeded, these inaccuracies place the lexical performance firmly in the Band 6 category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional and participial structures such as 'After coming back from the work they might be stressed out' and 'So that they might get motivated by seeing others'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, including missing prepositions or incorrect articles (e.g., 'most of the working people', 'get relax', 'fees structure'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but sentence structures often lack precision. These errors occasionally cause slight strain for the reader, fitting the Band 5 to 6 profile, leaning toward a solid 5.5 due to the frequency of minor structural slips.
