Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by explaining why working people lack exercise—citing time constraints and both physical and mental fatigue—and proposes relevant solutions, such as in-office exercise sessions and community behavioural programmes. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as daily household chores and workplace pressures. However, some arguments, like the 2016 report reference, are slightly underdeveloped and lack full integration. Overall, the prompt is fully answered, aligning well with the requirements for Band 6.5 to 7.0, and is best placed at Band 6.5 due to minor areas of over-generalisation and slightly limited support depth.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response demonstrates a clear overall progression with logical paragraphing. Each paragraph has a distinct focus, moving smoothly from introduction to causes, solutions, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to link ideas, such as 'To explicate it', 'Moreover', and 'To rectify this issue'. However, some referencing is slightly unclear or mechanical, and occasional awkward transitions occur, such as 'Apart from it'. Paragraph structuring is generally effective, but some sentences feel slightly disjointed. This level of organisation and cohesion firmly meets the criteria for Band 6.5, showing clear logical arrangement despite minor mechanical flaws in signposting.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'monotonous work', 'neuroscience', and 'behavioural training'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'employed individuals spend either few minutes... towards exercising' instead of 'spend a few minutes exercising', and 'fatigue to individuals bodies'. Spelling and word formation are generally clear, though minor slips like 'promisig' occur in the final paragraph. Because the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the message despite inaccuracies in collocation and word formation, this performance aligns with Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over multi-clause structures, such as 'Since this is a break from monotonous work, improves the productivity.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('full-time working individuals is quite bound', 'gives... improve'), missing articles ('with in the organizations'), and awkward prepositions or phrasing ('fatigue to individuals bodies'). While these errors do not severely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the score from reaching Band 6.5. Therefore, a Band 6.0 is awarded for adequate control of basic structures alongside persistent minor grammatical errors.
