Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays ,many working people do not get enough exercise during their working hours or in their free time. As a result ,they may develop various health problems .There are several reasons for this situation, but some practical solutions can help people live healthier lives.
One major reason why people do not exercise is their hectic schedules. Many employees spend eight to ten hours sitting in an office or working at a computer .After returining home, they often feel tired and prefer to relax rather go the gym or do physical activities . Another reason is the increasing use of technology.People can order food online ,shop from home and use car ride for short distance travelling. Consequently to walk or move during the day.
However, there are several ways to address this problem.First of all, employers should encourage their staff to be more physically active. For example ,companies could provide short excercise breaks, organise walking groups or offer gym facilties .Emploees could also use theiur lunch brteaks to walk outside instead of sitting at their desks .Secondly ,individuals shoud make a significant difference.Governments could also build more parks ,cycling lanes and public sports facilities to encourage people to exercise regularly .
In my experience, even small changes in daily habits can improve physical fitness. For example walking to near shops instead using cars.
Inconclusion, busy lifestyles, long working hours and the use of modern technology are the main reasons why many people do not exercise enough.Employers,Governments and individuals should work together to make physical activity easier and more convenient.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, examining why people lack exercise through factors like hectic schedules and technology, and offering solutions such as employer initiatives and government support. However, it falls slightly short of the minimum word count requirement, sitting at 249 words, which impacts task completion. While the ideas are relevant, some points are under-developed rather than fully extended. For instance, the mention that 'People can order food online... and use car ride for short distance travelling' leads to an incomplete thought ('Consequently to walk or move during the day'). The position is generally clear throughout, but the lack of full development and the slight penalty for length place this section at the current band level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical organization. The essay is divided into appropriate paragraphs, each focusing on a distinct aspect of the prompt, such as the causes and then the solutions. Cohesive devices are used to signal relationships between ideas, employing transition markers like 'One major reason', 'Another reason', and 'First of all'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical, as seen in minor awkward transitions and occasional punctuation spacing issues around commas and periods. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, showing elements of the next band through a clear logical progression, yet falling short of fully flexible cohesion due to repetitive sentence openers and slightly stiff transitional phrasing.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'hectic schedules', 'physical activities', and 'significant difference'. There are, however, several word choice, collocation, and spelling errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'returining', 'near shops instead using cars', and 'Inconclusion'. Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the message clearly, and the spelling or word-choice errors do not impede communication. The use of vocabulary remains somewhat standard and occasionally imprecise, preventing the response from reaching a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at varied structures such as conditional and modal constructions ('companies could provide', 'Governments could also build'). There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('use car ride for short distance'), preposition errors ('instead of sitting at their desks'), and inconsistent spacing around punctuation marks. Fortunately, these errors rarely impede communication. The control of grammar shows a standard mix of structures typical of this band level, with frequent simple patterns and occasional faulty complex attempts, holding it firmly at this score.
