Student answer (Band 6.5)

Many employees do little movement during the work day or even in their free time and suffer from health problems in the present and in the future. Many working people are not getting enough physical activity due to demanding work cultures and sedentary weekend habits. Measures such as brisk walking after lunch and free gym memberships can help to solve this problem

There are several reasons for people not getting enough exercise. Firstly, spending a long hours at work results in less time for themselves after reaching home. For example, many IT officials commute to work in traffic and return home late at night because they dont have enough time for exercise. Secondly, many young people spend their weekends by either scrolling in instagram or watching television instead of working out. For example, During weekends specifically in Hyderabad many individuals watch movies either in television or in theatres and end up in a restaurant.

There are several measures to this problem. Firstly, every person need to habituate brisk walking after lunch in the available office space with their colleagues. For example, In India, L&T folks walk after lunch for 30 min and reach their desk. Secondly, companies should provide a free gym membership so that employee motivate themselves to make use of it to a full extent and end up in a gym in either strength training or cardio.

In conclusion, working people get little movement due to their long commutes and working hours during weekdays and inactive lifestyle during weekends. Measures such as walking after meals and gym memberships provided by companies can motivate employees to exercise.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both questions and maintain a clear focus: demanding work and commuting are presented as causes, while walking after lunch and employer-funded gym access are proposed as solutions. The examples about IT workers and L&T employees make the points more concrete. This meets the task well, with some evidence of the fuller development expected at a higher level. However, several ideas are asserted rather than explained. For instance, the weekend example describes watching films and eating out, but does not clearly show how these habits prevent exercise or how widespread they are. Likewise, explain more fully how a gym membership would motivate employees who have limited time. Developing these links would make the response more consistently convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay has a clear, effective structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for causes and solutions, and a conclusion that restates the main points. Sequencing is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” help readers navigate the argument. The examples are generally placed beside the points they support. To make the progression more flexible and less dependent on formulaic transitions, connect ideas through clearer explanation and reference. For example, after describing long commutes, show directly how they reduce the time or energy available for exercise. The sentence beginning “There are several measures to this problem” also introduces the next paragraph awkwardly; a more natural transition would strengthen the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “physical activity,” “sedentary,” “commute,” “brisk walking,” and “strength training.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and some less common terms show an effort to be precise. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “do little movement,” “habituate brisk walking,” and “make use of it to a full extent.” There are also spelling and capitalization slips, including “dont,” “instagram,” and “During.” These do not prevent understanding, but they limit the naturalness and precision of the vocabulary. Aim to learn common word partnerships and use them consistently, such as “get little exercise,” “take up walking,” and “make full use of a membership.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including cause-and-effect structures with “due to” and “because,” and the meaning is generally clear. Some sentences are controlled, such as the opening explanation of work culture and sedentary habits. However, there are some errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “spending a long hours” (use “spending long hours”), “every person need” (use “every person needs”), and “so that employee motivate themselves” (use “so that employees are motivated”). The phrase “There are several measures to this problem” also needs a more accurate grammatical pattern, such as “measures to address this problem.” Review subject–verb agreement and article use, and proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation to improve accuracy.
