Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both questions: it identifies possible causes, including low motivation, stress and time spent on social media, and proposes actions for individuals, companies and public campaigns. The examples of workplace wellness events and fitness trackers help make the solutions relevant. However, the causes are not always clearly connected to why working people lack exercise, and some points—such as the effects on mental health—receive more attention than the specific barriers to being active. The solutions are also listed more than explained; for instance, the essay could show how employers might make exercise practical during the working day. The final sentence is incomplete, so the conclusion does not clearly summarise the response. Develop and support the main ideas more evenly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions and an attempted conclusion. This gives the reader an overall sense of direction. Some links between ideas are clear, such as moving from social-media habits to health consequences, and the solutions paragraph uses “Also” to add suggestions. However, the progression within paragraphs can feel like a list: meditation, phone use, exercise options and fitness trackers are introduced without explaining how they relate or prioritising them. References such as “this problem” and “this matter” are broad, and the final line breaks off before completing the conclusion. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each proposed action to a specific cause.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses a relevant range of vocabulary, including “lack of physical activity,” “wellness events,” “fitness trackers” and “mobility problems.” These terms help communicate the topic, and the writer attempts some more specific expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “maintain in health state,” “more concern about their digital identity,” and “improve their stats.” There are also word-form and spelling issues, including “diabetic” where a disease is meant and “moral” for employee morale. These do not prevent the main message from being understood, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Aim for accurate collocations and check whether a noun, adjective or verb form is needed in each phrase.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay attempts both simple and more complex sentences, including a sentence explaining how social-media habits may affect health and a relative clause about fitness trackers. The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “people spent more time” does not match the present-time context, “Main reason … are” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “people needs” should use a plural verb form. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in phrases such as “at the end of day” and “Most people are more concern.” The final sentence, “Overall its the combined effort … to address the health to prolong,” is incomplete and unclear. Review agreement, verb forms and sentence completion, then proofread punctuation and apostrophes.
