Student answer (Band 5.5)

Although people have enough time to do exercise, they are being lethargic and avoiding physical activities. As a result, they face health issues. The reasons behind neglecting excercise are lazziness and unawareness about the consequences of lacking exercise. People can take part in health compaigns and competitions to know the importance of exercise.

The main reason of not getting exercise or less exercise by the working people is the negligence. Although people know the benefits of physical exercise, they simply neglecting the exercise by making excuse of workload. Working individuals are prioritizing their work over their well-being. For example, most of the people are working eight or ten hours a day. They can make schedule to do exercise daily after their work. However, they are avoiding to exercise and getting illness. Moreover, some people are unaware about the deceases that they can catch if they are not physically fit. People have hectic schedule that makes them unwilling to work on their health. Thus, negligence and unawareness are the major reasons of not getting enough exercise.

This problem can be solved by organising health compaigns for general public where they can join other people and work on their exercise routine. People can take part in various health competitions such as race competions or weight lifting competitions. If every community would start to organise some events to spread awareness, people can get a healthy lifestyle by particaping in this kind of programs.

To conclude, people are not doing enough exercise because of negligence that causes health issues. Health compaigns and competitions can encourage people to do daily exercise.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions and maintain a relevant focus: you identify negligence, workload and lack of awareness as reasons, then suggest health campaigns and competitions. The examples of long working hours and community events help make the response relevant. However, the explanation of why workers lack exercise is not fully developed: the claim that people have enough time sits uneasily beside the later point about hectic schedules, and the workload example does not explain what prevents workers from exercising. The proposed solutions are also quite general; explain how employers or communities could make exercise easier to fit into daily routines. More clearly developed and consistent reasoning would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for causes and solutions, and a conclusion. This makes the main stages easy to identify. Linking expressions such as “As a result,” “Moreover,” and “To conclude” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive: “negligence” and “neglect” recur without adding much, and the introduction and conclusion largely repeat the same points. The contrast between having enough time and having a hectic schedule also interrupts the flow of the argument. Use clearer links between each cause and its explanation, and develop a more distinct concluding summary rather than restating the opening.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “physical exercise,” “workload,” “well-being,” “hectic schedule,” and “health competitions.” These choices communicate the general meaning, and there is some attempt to use more specific terms. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling problems reduce precision, such as “making excuse of workload,” “catch deceases,” and “health compaigns.” Repetition of “exercise,” “people,” and “negligence” also makes the writing less flexible. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling carefully; more precise expressions would help explain both the barriers to exercise and practical ways to address them.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “If every community would start to organise some events…” and a relative clause in “competitions such as race…”. The overall meaning is generally understandable, but errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward. For example, “they simply neglecting” needs a finite verb (“they simply neglect”), while “people are working eight or ten hours a day” is better expressed as a general fact with the present simple. There are also problems with articles and sentence construction, as in “make schedule” and “the main reason of not getting exercise.” Practise accurate verb forms and build complex sentences from reliable patterns.
