Student answer (Band 6.0)

Exercise is beneficial to maintain the health and improve the fitness. It is often observed that people people do not allocate time for excercise. This development can lead many health issues in the future. There are several reasons behind this growth and to solve the problems, governments or large companies can start different campaign to encourage them.

To begin with, in the contemporary world, people spend a significant amount of their time at office and they would prefer to spend their rest of time with children and other family members to improve work-life balance. Furthermore, large numbers of people in developing nation do not aware about benefits of exercise. Moreover, Gym and other fitness center used to have high membership fees which is only affordable by wealthy people and poor people may not have any options left.

To solve the problem, governments should raise the awarness in people about benefits of exercise. They can share numbers of excercise that could be done in order to improve fitness through pamphlet and media channel. Poor people may start walking and running more to improve health. Furthermore, companies should build the fitness center at their facility, so individuals can do workout when they are out of work or other specific time. This may encourage many employees to use this facility. Contrarily, healthy people can work more efficiently and effectively which could increase the productivity. This is largely benefits to the companies.

To sum up, although people do not have time, such facility at workplace can encourage employees to use it once in a week. Pamphlet and media also play important role in encouraging young people to find a way to do regular exercise.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions and maintain a relevant focus. The causes include limited time because of work and family commitments, lack of awareness, and the cost of gym memberships; your proposed responses include public information campaigns, walking or running, and workplace fitness facilities. These are appropriate ideas, but they are not developed equally. For example, you explain that workplace facilities could benefit companies through higher productivity, while the suggestions about awareness and low-cost exercise receive little explanation of how they would change people’s habits. The conclusion also repeats the main proposals rather than drawing the causes and solutions together. To strengthen the response, explain the link between each cause and a practical solution, using a specific example where possible.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. The progression from reasons to remedies is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “To sum up” help the reader navigate the essay. This meets the lower-band expectations securely, with some evidence of more flexible organisation. However, several transitions feel mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is not always explicit. For instance, the point about companies benefiting from productivity appears within the solutions paragraph but is not clearly connected to the recommendation before it. Use fewer formulaic connectors and add clearer links explaining how each proposed action addresses a stated cause.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “work-life balance,” “membership fees,” “fitness center,” and “productivity,” which allows you to discuss causes and solutions. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “in the contemporary world.” However, noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation problems reduce precision: “excercise,” “awarness,” “large numbers of people in developing nation,” and “This is largely benefits” are examples. Some phrases are also vague, such as “different campaign” and “share numbers of exercise.” These errors do not prevent the main message from being understood, but they limit the accuracy and flexibility of your vocabulary. Check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships, such as “raise awareness” and “a range of exercises.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “which” and “so,” and most ideas remain understandable. Some sentences show useful control, such as the explanation that people spend time at work and then prefer to be with family. However, there are several grammatical errors in agreement, articles, and verb forms. For example, “people in developing nation do not aware” needs a plural noun and a verb (“people in developing nations are not aware”), while “Gym and other fitness center used to have” has problems with number and article use. The final paragraph also contains an incomplete construction in “although people do not have time.” Review sentence patterns and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and clause completeness.
