Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, most of the jobs are done at the desk in front of the computer and many working people get very less or no excercise during those hours or in their free time. These people get health broblems at the end.

Many people does not get any body movement due to their work requirements that keep them seated for hours. There are many IT related jobs which can only be done in front of their computer all the time or a role of an artist such as painter. As a result, they get many health problems due to insufficient excercise in their routine. For example, I am a software developer, working at my desk for 8 hours without any change of my body posture and got suffered a severe leg fatigue.

To prevent this types of health issues, doctors suggest to take a break and do some walking. If someone cannot go away from the desk, they can also do some hands and legs stretching. There are many companies who encourage employees to do some excercise during their shifts to prevent health issues. Moreover, we can connect our small tasks like filling a water bottle to this exercises, like I get small water bottle which encourages me to walk and fill it from the purifier fr.

To conclude, people should take care of their physical and mental well-being by detaching themselves from work in between. We can do some excercise during the working day by doing some stretches and walking in office to prevent health problems in future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions: you explain that desk-based work keeps people seated, and suggest walking, stretching, workplace exercise, and linking movement to everyday tasks. The personal example about working as a software developer makes the cause concrete. However, the reasons are developed more clearly than the solutions: the suggestions are listed, but you could explain how employers might make exercise practical, such as scheduling short movement breaks or providing an active-work area. The reference to an artist is also not fully explained as a reason for insufficient exercise. Your conclusion restates the main message, though it could draw together the causes and solutions more precisely. Overall, the response is relevant and covers the task, but some ideas need fuller explanation and support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining causes, a paragraph proposing solutions, and a conclusion. This makes the progression easy to follow, and signposts such as “As a result,” “Moreover,” and “To conclude” help connect the main stages. The personal example also fits naturally within the causes paragraph. To make the organisation more polished, ensure that each supporting point is clearly linked to the paragraph’s main idea. For instance, the artist example appears abruptly after the IT jobs point, and the water-bottle example could be connected more explicitly to the broader suggestion of building movement into the workday. Some linking is therefore effective, though a few transitions and references could be more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “work requirements,” “insufficient exercise,” “health issues,” “stretching,” and “physical and mental well-being.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and phrases such as “severe leg fatigue” add useful specificity. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations are noticeable, including “excercise,” “broblems,” “very less,” and “got suffered.” Some wording is also repetitive: “health problems” and “exercise” recur often without much variation. Aim to use accurate collocations and a slightly broader range, such as “sedentary work,” “physical activity,” and “take regular movement breaks.” These improvements would make the vocabulary more precise and natural while preserving your clear meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including cause-and-effect structures such as “As a result, they get many health problems…” and a conditional sentence beginning “If someone cannot go away from the desk…”. The overall meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms. For example, “Many people does not get” should be “Many people do not get,” while “a role of an artist” needs a more suitable article or construction. In “I am a software developer… and got suffered,” the verb pattern is incorrect; use “I suffered” or “I have suffered.” Review sentence boundaries and punctuation as well, and check agreement and verb forms when editing. Greater accuracy across these structures would strengthen the response.
