Student answer (Band 6.0)

Several people hardly make time for exercise on normal days, even if they can't do it in their leisure time, consequently, they may face health issues later. In this essay, I will discuss why this is happening and explain the solution to this matter of concern.

The major reason why people cannot have enough time for physical activities is that they are working for long hours for their earning. This is because they have responsibilities on their shoulders to look after their family's needs, and they may have unstable financial conditions. For example, it can be seen in low-income communities that they are working extra hours every day and they failed manage time for themselves and laterly they may have health problems. Moreover, it can be possible for those individuals to get some time for a little Yoga and meditation while working under a pressurized environment. This can happen in many people's lives at their workplace; they have to do numerous tasks even after their working hours while they are at home. Therefore, it is not possible for them to spend at least a few minutes exercising.

One viable solution for these circumstances can be to improve their schedule, such as waking up early and following a proper diet plan. It means people can tolerate their sleeping time on some days and devote it to a little exercise in the mornings, as well as preparing a healthy meal, which can prevent them from severe diseases respectively. In addition, they may find some time during their breaks at their jobs can be considered a second way to reduce this concern. For instance, normally people have lunch breaks and they can do a little walk, mediatation which can relax their body and they will not any physical problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both questions: it identifies long working hours, financial pressure and family responsibilities as reasons for limited exercise, then suggests changing routines and using work breaks for activity. These are relevant ideas, and the examples about low-income workers and lunch breaks help illustrate them. However, some points are not fully developed or are unclear. The discussion of yoga and meditation in a pressurised workplace is introduced as a possibility but does not clearly explain how it addresses the stated lack of time. The solutions also rely mainly on individuals changing their schedules, with little consideration of workplace or employer action. Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation of how it would reduce the problem and support it with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining causes and a paragraph proposing solutions. Linking expressions such as “For example,” “Moreover,” and “Therefore” help signal relationships between ideas. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs is not always smooth. In the causes paragraph, the discussion moves from long hours and financial pressure to yoga, then to tasks completed at home; the connection between these points could be made more explicit. The final paragraph also combines changing sleep routines, diet, lunch breaks and meditation without clearly separating or prioritising the solutions. Use topic sentences and organise each paragraph around one main point, with supporting explanation and an example.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The response uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “financial conditions,” “responsibilities,” “physical activities,” and “viable solution.” These choices allow the reader to understand the main ideas, and there are attempts to use more formal language. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, however, such as “for their earning,” “tolerate their sleeping time,” and “laterly.” “Meditation” is also misspelled in the final paragraph, and “a little Yoga” is not a natural way to describe the activity. Aim for more precise, natural combinations, such as “work long hours to earn a living” and “sacrifice some sleep.” Proofreading spelling and checking collocations would make the vocabulary more controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “while,” and “which,” and the main meaning is generally clear. Some grammatical errors remain. For example, “they failed manage time” needs an infinitive marker (“failed to manage”), while “they will not any physical problems” is missing a verb, such as “they will not have any physical problems.” The sentence beginning “In addition, they may find some time during their breaks…” also has an unclear grammatical construction, and the opening sentence is awkwardly joined with “even if” and “consequently.” Work on complete clause structure, verb patterns and punctuation when joining ideas. More accurate control of these forms would make the complex sentences easier to follow.
