Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to inform you about the system of taking gargbage is not working properly since last 2 month.
My name is Meet and I live in shivkrupa society. for last 2 month, our truck of receiving waste from every house has not arrived on timing. As per the rule, we have agreed to take garbage atleast 3 days in a week. They do not collect garbages and waste on proper time and also do not care about any rules.
The thing is that, Due to this rubbish service, the number of insects and flies has increased in our house. Sometimes we use our car to throw garbage to near by places of waste-collection.
I humble request to you that, please do something in this matter. As, you can provide more service instruments to pick-up house waste, It would keep save us from the harmful effects of desease which can be spread by insects and flies.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Meet

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points: you report that collections are late and irregular, describe the increase in insects and flies and the need to take rubbish elsewhere, and ask the council to improve the service. The purpose is clear and the details about your society make the complaint relevant. The request for “more service instruments,” however, does not clearly explain what practical action the council should take, and the agreed collection schedule is not fully explained. To strengthen the letter, specify measures such as a reliable collection timetable, additional collection rounds, or monitoring of missed pickups, and develop how these would resolve the problem.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter follows a sensible overall order: it introduces the complaint, describes the collection problem, explains its effects, and ends with a request and appropriate closing. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and phrases such as “Due to this” signal a cause-and-effect relationship. Some links are less clear or mechanical, however. For example, “The thing is that” is an informal transition, while “As” at the start of the final request does not clearly connect the proposed action to its result. Organise the details into clearly focused paragraphs and use direct links such as “As a result” and “I therefore ask the council to…” to make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the complaint, including “rubbish,” “waste,” “collection,” “insects,” and “harmful effects.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling or word-choice errors make the letter less natural: “gargbage,” “garbages,” “near by places of waste-collection,” and “service instruments” are examples. Some expressions also do not fit the intended meaning, such as “truck of receiving waste.” These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the main issue, but they reduce precision. Build a more accurate set of collocations for council complaints, such as “waste collection vehicle,” “missed collections,” and “additional collection rounds.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes simple statements and some attempts to connect ideas, for example, “Due to this rubbish service, the number of insects and flies has increased in our house.” The main message remains understandable, but the range of sentence structures is limited and errors recur in sentence formation, agreement, articles, and punctuation. Examples include “since last 2 month,” “for last 2 month,” and “Sometimes we use our car to throw garbage to near by places,” where the grammatical patterns are not controlled. Capitalisation after full stops is also inconsistent, as in “society. for last…”. Practise accurate time expressions and sentence boundaries, then combine ideas with controlled clauses, such as “Because collections have been missed, rubbish is accumulating outside homes.”
