Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: describing the system failure, explaining the impact on the community, and suggesting solutions. The tone is appropriate for a formal complaint to a local council. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the mention of property damage is vague, and the suggestions for improvement are quite general. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific details or examples, such as mentioning how long the rubbish has been left uncollected or suggesting a specific frequency for collection. Despite this, the purpose of the letter is clear and the requirements of the task are fully met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. There is a clear progression of ideas from the problem to the impact and finally the solution. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Phrases like 'because of that' and 'even through' (likely meant as 'even though') are used to link ideas, but the flow could be improved with a wider variety of transition words. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentence structures are slightly disjointed, which affects the overall fluency of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, including terms like 'inadequate management', 'residential areas', and 'unprofessional'. However, there are several instances of incorrect word choice and spelling errors, such as 'manegement' (management), 'wastages' (waste), 'tremendious' (tremendous), and 'chlidren' (children). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common words and using more precise collocations, such as 'waste collection' instead of 'wastages collection'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The letter uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'It wrecking numerous problems' (It is causing), 'they destroy many property' (they have damaged property), and 'I would be appreciate' (I would appreciate). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and verb tense consistency. While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct formation of passive and active voice structures.
