- suggest what should be done about the problem
You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing well. The reason to write this letter is to draw your attention to the garbage collection system, which is not working properly and is creating trouble for me and my neighbours.
In our city, we have only one vehicle, which is being used for garbage collection. It comes to pick up rubbish once a month. Thus, all the garbage stays as it is on the open field, which is close to my house. As a result, all dangerous insects and mosquitos fly all over the area and make us sick.
To eradicate this problem, I would like to request you that, please add more vehicles in a garbage collection so garbage can be picked up every week and we get rid of all dangerous insects and mosquitos.
Thanks for taking time to read this. I hope you will proceed further on our request and will try to solve our issue as soon as possible. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need anything from me.
Sincerely,
Parth.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly describe the issue (infrequent collection), explain the impact (health risks from insects), and suggest a solution (increasing vehicle frequency). The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a council. To reach a higher band, you could expand slightly on the impact, perhaps mentioning the smell or the visual blight, to show more developed ideas. However, the task is fully addressed, and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices like 'Thus', 'As a result', and 'To eradicate this problem' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally a bit mechanical. To improve, try to vary your transition words and ensure that the connection between the problem and the proposed solution is more fluid. Overall, the progression of ideas is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You use a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly, such as 'eradicate', 'dangerous', and 'attention'. There are some minor issues with collocation, such as 'add more vehicles in a garbage collection' (better: 'increase the frequency of garbage collection') and 'proceed further on our request' (better: 'take action regarding our request'). While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, incorporating more precise, topic-specific collocations would help demonstrate a more sophisticated range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most of your sentences are clear and grammatically sound, which ensures that communication is never impeded. There are some minor errors, such as 'The reason to write this letter' (better: 'The reason for writing this letter') and 'I would like to request you that, please add' (better: 'I would like to request that you add'). These errors are infrequent and do not affect the clarity of your message. Increasing the use of more complex grammatical structures would help improve this score.
