Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all three bullet points of the prompt: describing the issue, explaining the impact, and suggesting a solution. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a council. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the impact on the community is mentioned briefly but could be expanded with more specific details to fully meet the requirements of a higher band. The letter is clear and the purpose is well-defined, but the overall development remains basic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and sometimes mechanical. For example, you rely heavily on simple sentence structures and lack a variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly. While the progression of ideas is clear, the transitions between sentences could be improved to make the writing feel more natural and cohesive.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate your message, but it lacks the range and precision expected at higher levels. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'garbage' and 'collect'. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'bed odor' (should be 'bad odor') and 'hornk' (should be 'honking'). To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms and precise collocations related to municipal services and environmental issues.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'garbage truck has not been coming' (tense inconsistency), 'residents get disturb' (should be 'disturbed'), and 'take a granted' (incorrect idiom). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the clarity and professional tone of the letter. Focus on subject-verb agreement and correct verb tenses.
