Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Mayur barot sir,
I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the garbage and society waste collection service at our housing society location by the local muncipal body. I am the resident of your constituency, but my latest experience fell significantly short of your usual work standards.
The primary issue arose due to the new installation of defective waste bins for rubbish collection. Furthermore, this has created accumulation of waste on the public road. However, after filing multiple complains no appropraite solution were given by the local muncipal body. This situation caused the considerable inconvenience for the society members because of the deteriorating impact on the health of city dwellers. Cases of malaria and dengue has soared in the local area.
In this circumstances, I request that you assess the situation with the experts, also provide the medical assisstance to the ill patients. Revamp the waste collection system with automation technology.
On priority base, reinstalling the new waster containner is much appreciated.
I have enclosed a copy of my complaint letter for your reference. I expect to hear back from you regarding this matter at your earliest convenience.
Yours sincerely
Vedang Tripathi

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: describing the system failure, explaining the impact on residents, and suggesting solutions. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the salutation 'Dear Mayur barot sir' is slightly informal and inconsistent with the requested 'Dear Sir or Madam'. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, though the development of the solutions could be slightly more detailed to reach a higher band. The purpose of the letter is clear from the outset, and the writer maintains a consistent position throughout the text.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. The progression of ideas is easy to follow, moving from the problem to the consequences and finally to the proposed solutions. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'However', and 'In these circumstances' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, and the paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter. The overall structure supports the message effectively without confusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at more formal language like 'deteriorating impact' and 'constituency'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'muncipal', 'complains', 'appropraite', and 'waster containner'. These errors do not impede communication but do indicate a lack of precision. While the range is sufficient to convey the message, the frequent spelling mistakes and occasional awkward collocations prevent the response from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading would improve the overall quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I am the resident' (should be 'a resident'), 'no appropraite solution were given' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'Cases of malaria and dengue has soared' (subject-verb agreement). Additionally, 'In this circumstances' should be 'In these circumstances'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning. The control of punctuation is generally acceptable, but the grammatical slips are frequent enough to limit the score to a 6.0.
