Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly describe the failure of the collection system, explain the negative impact on health and the environment, and suggest a solution. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a council. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the impact on health is mentioned but not elaborated upon, and the suggestion for improvement is quite brief. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific details about the consequences of the uncollected waste and offer more nuanced suggestions for the council to consider, such as requesting a specific schedule or improved bin infrastructure.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Therefore' and 'I would like to', which provide a clear structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical. Some transitions feel abrupt, and the use of referencing could be more sophisticated. For example, the connection between the lack of collection and the resulting pollution could be linked more fluidly. Paragraphing is used correctly, but the overall progression of ideas could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your points more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your message clearly. You use relevant terms such as 'garbage collector', 'polluted', and 'consideration'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'radiant health' (which is not a standard collocation in this context) and 'dirtyness' (which is a misspelling of 'dirtiness'). You also use 'faced our society' in a way that is not entirely clear. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure you are using the correct forms of words. Expanding your vocabulary to include more formal, topic-specific terms would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'I hope you may find in a radiant health' (incorrect preposition and article usage), 'I am resident' (missing article), and 'garbage collector person not come' (missing auxiliary verb and incorrect tense). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main point, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement, the use of articles, and consistent verb tenses throughout your writing.
