Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You successfully cover all parts of the task prompt. You describe how the rubbish collection system is failing by explaining that garbage trucks are not coming on the scheduled Tuesdays and that workers scatter waste on the ground. You clearly explain the negative impact on you and your neighbours, noting bad smells, dirty streets, health problems like asthma and skin allergies, and insect breeding. Finally, you suggest practical solutions, such as fixing specific collection days and times and providing proper training for workers. Your ideas are relevant and appropriate for a general task 1 letter format. However, some points could be slightly more expanded to reach a higher band. Overall, you accomplish the communicative purpose well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
Your letter has a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical progression from describing the problem to explaining its effects and offering solutions. You make use of basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', although paragraphing and linking could be improved. Some sentences are broken up awkwardly, such as starting a new sentence with 'Which are not functioning properly', which disrupts the flow and cohesion. Referencing and paragraph transitions are generally adequate for this level, but greater control over sentence boundaries and cohesive phrasing would elevate your score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'garbage collection services', 'asthma', 'skin allergies', and 'solution'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'writting' instead of writing, 'disatisfaction' instead of dissatisfaction, and 'helpfull' instead of helpful. You also use the incorrect phrase 'insect birth' instead of insect breeding or infestation. While these lexical errors do not impede communication, they reflect a Band 5 to 6 level where vocabulary control is sometimes inconsistent and requires more precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
Your letter shows a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but it is heavily impacted by basic grammatical and punctuation errors. For example, fragment sentences occur, such as 'Which are not functioning properly and creating problems for many citizens', which should be connected to the previous clause. Capitalisation errors are also present, such as 'Harleen singh' and 'albert street west'. Additionally, there are awkward phrasings like 'hopping for a proper solution' instead of hoping. While your meaning remains clear, the frequency of basic mechanical and grammatical mistakes keeps your score at this level.
