Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, fulfilling the requirements for a general correspondence task. You clearly described the failure of the rubbish collection system by stating that employees are not collecting garbage regularly or cleaning bins properly. You also explained the impact on you and your neighbours, noting the foul smells, children unable to play outside, and the increase in mosquitoes causing serious diseases. Furthermore, you suggested practical solutions, asking the local council to take strict action and provide new equipment. The purpose of the letter is evident and maintained throughout. To move towards a higher band, some of these ideas could be extended further with more precise details or elaboration on how the situation specifically affects your daily routine.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter exhibits a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical structure appropriate for a formal request. You have used appropriate salutations and sign-offs, and the ideas are divided into sensible paragraphs that transition from introducing the problem to detailing the impacts and finally offering suggestions. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'As a result', 'Firstly', and 'Secondly', which help guide the reader through your points. However, referencing and cohesion occasionally feel a bit mechanical or simplistic. To reach a higher level of coherence and cohesion, you could employ a wider variety of cohesive links and ensure smoother transitions between sentences, avoiding slight disjointedness in how some of the supporting details are connected.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You have used an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and communicating your message clearly despite some limitations. Phrases like 'strict action' and 'local council' demonstrate a suitable tone for a formal letter. However, there are noticeable vocabulary and spelling errors, such as 'writting' instead of 'writing', 'emploies' instead of 'employees', 'comming' instead of 'coming', and 'desises' instead of 'diseases'. Word choice is sometimes slightly unnatural, such as 'mosquitoes on the top of dirty garbage'. These errors and occasional spelling slips show an adequate range that covers the basics, but greater precision and accuracy in word formation and spelling are needed to progress to a higher lexical band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your writing displays a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, demonstrating a basic command of grammar. You successfully use structures such as 'I hope you will look into this matter soon'. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly with verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and sentence boundaries. For instance, the sentence fragment 'garbage collection system. which is not doing their job properly' incorrectly splits a dependent clause with a full stop, and 'the rubbish collection emploies did not collecting' contains an incorrect verb form. Additionally, articles are sometimes missing or misused, such as 'resident of Laural community' and 'make our society more clean as secure'. These errors persist throughout the text, meaning your control over complex structures remains limited at this stage.
