Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: you explain that collections are missed, describe full bins and misplaced bins, and outline effects on residents before asking the council to act. The examples of insects, animals, and neighbours’ health problems make the impact relevant, and the formal opening and closing suit a council letter. However, the proposed solution is less fully developed: “provide good and responsible operator” does not specify practical steps such as a reliable collection schedule, replacement bins, or monitoring missed pickups. Some details, including the health problems listed, would also benefit from a clearer link to the rubbish problem. The response covers the task well overall, but fuller explanation and more specific action would strengthen it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall sequence: complaint, description of the collection failures, effects on the neighbourhood, and a request for action. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and signposts such as “Firstly” and “In addition” make the progression easy to follow. Some linking is mechanical, however, and the second paragraph combines several details without clearly showing how they relate—for example, missed collections, full bins, and bins found on another street. The sentence beginning “because we want clean environment” is also separated awkwardly from the request before it, weakening the connection between the reason and the proposed action. Use fewer formulaic transitions and connect related details more smoothly to make the letter’s progression more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main problem, including “garbage collection,” “bins,” “insects,” and “health problems.” The meaning is generally recoverable, but the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors reduce precision. Examples include “complain you about,” “rubish,” “fries” where you mean flies, and “a responsible operator.” “Effecting me” is also not the intended expression for describing an impact. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, even though the overall message remains understandable. Build a more accurate set of phrases for complaints and municipal services, and check spelling and collocations carefully before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response communicates its main points using mostly short, direct sentences, with a few attempts to combine ideas using “but,” “because,” and “like.” However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur often enough to affect fluency. For example, “garbage collection in my area not is not working properly” has incorrect word order and a duplicated negative, while “the garbage is collected twice a week, but for some days the garbage collection missed” has an incomplete verb construction. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention in “take a action” and “because we want clean environment,” and “please” should not begin a sentence in lowercase. Practise accurate clause construction, articles, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence.
