Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three requested points and maintain a suitably formal purpose: you describe missed collections and uncleaned bins, explain the smell, health concerns and difficulty walking outside, and ask the council to investigate and provide more containers. These details make the complaint clear and relevant. The impact on residents is extended with examples such as children and senior citizens, although some effects are stated generally rather than supported with a specific incident. The requested action is also clear, but could be more fully developed—for example, asking for a reliable collection schedule and a response about when it will be implemented. Overall, the letter fulfils the task with a clear, consistent message.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: the opening states the purpose, the next paragraphs describe the collection failures and their effects, and the final paragraph proposes action. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and connectors such as “Moreover” and “I would like to suggest” signal relationships between ideas. This is a coherent arrangement, with some progression beyond a simple list. However, linking is occasionally mechanical, and repeated sentence openings such as “This cause” make the flow less flexible. Punctuation and spacing also interrupt the reading in places, for example “area. It” and “public.specifically.” Use clearer sentence boundaries and vary how you connect related effects to make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the complaint, including “collection vehicles,” “household garbage,” “containers,” “unbearable” and “infection.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main problem and its consequences. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “isuues,” “experince,” “appropriatley” and “habitate.” Some combinations are also unnatural: “problems towards people” and “investigate this whole situation on ground level” do not express the intended meaning idiomatically. Choose accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, “problems for residents” and “investigate the situation on site” would be clearer. More precise terms for the council’s response would also strengthen the formal tone.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including a conditional in “if it is not resolved early” and a relative clause in “which increases the chances of infection.” The main message remains understandable, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction are frequent enough to affect ease of reading. Examples include “from last one week i experince,” “sweepers does not clean,” and “This mishandling … cause many problems”; these need forms such as “for the last week, I have experienced,” “sweepers do not clean,” and “causes many problems.” Several sentences also join ideas without reliable punctuation. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and tense, and use full stops to separate complete thoughts.
