Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points: the missed collections, the effects on residents, and possible remedies. The three-week period and overflowing bins make the complaint specific, while the smell, pests, and risk to children explain why action is needed. Your requests to send a truck promptly and establish a regular schedule are relevant. The suggestion to spread “fertilizes” is less clear and may not be an appropriate solution, and the effects on neighbours could be explained more fully. The letter is recognisably formal and includes an appropriate closing. To strengthen the response, clarify the proposed pest-control measure and develop the impact on the wider neighbourhood, such as how residents are unable to use shared outdoor spaces.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter follows a sensible overall sequence: it introduces the complaint, describes the collection failure, explains its consequences, and then proposes action. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and linking phrases such as “as a consequence,” “also,” and “Moreover” show how ideas relate. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, the sentence beginning “In past three weeks” joins the missed collections and overflowing bins without clear punctuation, and “A parth from this” does not smoothly introduce the next effect. The final request and sign-off also run together. Use clearer sentence boundaries and a more consistent paragraph structure, with one paragraph for the problem and its effects and another for the requested action.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “garbage collection,” “rubbish,” “bins,” “bad smell,” and “schedule,” so the main message is understandable. There are also attempts to use more specific language, such as “infected” and “fertilizes,” but some choices are inaccurate or unclear in context. Spelling errors such as “writting,” “spred,” “inscest,” and “recomended” are noticeable and reduce the precision of the letter. Some phrases, including “major problem created in our neighbours,” are not natural English. Build a more reliable range of collocations for formal complaints, and check spelling and word forms carefully so that the reader can understand each proposed effect and solution without hesitation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a cause-and-effect sentence about the missed collections and a sentence listing the effects on residents. However, control is inconsistent, and several errors make parts of the letter difficult to follow. For example, “bins gets overflows” has problems with subject–verb agreement and verb form, while “This create” and “children plays” do not agree with their subjects. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention: “In past three weeks” and the long sentence beginning “This create a major issue” would be clearer with corrected phrasing and punctuation. Practise accurate present and past forms, agreement, and complete sentence construction before adding more complex clauses.
