Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear sir,
My name is Miral Ahir and I am resident of pal area, in surat. I am writing this letter about I am extremely dissatisfied with garbage collection system.
First of all, in our area rubbish collection system is not work properly. The government workers not do it properly, they collect it only once in a month. So, it is really harmful for us and also it make our area more durty because on road dustbin are also full with rubbish.
Moreover, it gives really bad impact on our health and live because of in our surrounding there were many garbage and it creates very bad smell and also it goes into our breath and create some disease.
I would suggest that, you could talk with local authority and make a schedule of rubbish collection in our area and also you could talk with local employee to do it properly.
I hope you look into the matter and solve it as soon as possible. I look forward your prompt response.
Yours faithfully,
Miral Ahir.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points: you explain that collection happens “only once in a month,” describe the full bins, smell and health concerns, and suggest a collection schedule and better work by local staff. The purpose of writing to the council is clear, and the formal closing is appropriate. This meets the task well, although some ideas are less fully developed than others: for example, you could specify how often collection should happen or explain more precisely how the overflowing bins affect neighbours. The opening also differs from the required “Dear Sir or Madam,” and a clearer, more formal statement of the complaint would strengthen the letter’s presentation. Overall, the relevant points are present, but further detail and precision would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the complaint, describes the collection problem, explains its effects, offers a solution, and closes politely. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these functions, while “First of all,” “Moreover,” and “I would suggest” guide the reader through the points. Some linking is mechanical, however, and several ideas are joined in long chains with repeated “and also,” particularly in the paragraph about health. The relationship between the full bins and the health effects could be made clearer with more precise referencing and sentence boundaries. Use a wider range of natural transitions and organise each paragraph around one main point to make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main complaint, using relevant terms such as “garbage collection system,” “dustbin,” “rubbish,” and “local authority.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the letter less natural: “bad impact on our health and live,” “goes into our breath,” and “make our area more durty” do not express the ideas precisely. Spelling errors such as “durty” also reduce accuracy. Aim to learn common phrases for environmental complaints and health effects, and check word forms and spelling. More precise vocabulary would help you explain the problem and its consequences with greater clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and joined sentences, and the reader can generally follow the main message. However, the range of structures is limited, and errors occur in basic sentence patterns as well as in longer sentences. For example, “I am resident” needs an article, “the system is not work properly” has an incorrect verb form, and “the government workers not do it properly” is missing an auxiliary. In “because of in our surrounding there were many garbage,” the construction and tense are faulty. These errors sometimes make the meaning harder to process, especially when several clauses are joined together. Practise accurate present-tense statements and use shorter sentences before attempting more complex structures.
