Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to you to complain about the poor garbage collection service in my area. For the last few days, there is only one dump truck in working order to collect rubbish in our socity due to this it is only able to cover half of the area in a day, Which causes inconvenience and pollution in our society.
I would like to suggest that the number of dump truck should increased for collecting rubbish that would be benefit everyone involved and it will also help to reduce the environment pollution.
I would be greatly appreciate it if you could look at this matter in your earliest convenience and find the best solution. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best Regards,
Kundu

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address the main purpose by reporting that only one truck is working, explaining that it collects rubbish from only half the area each day, and recommending more trucks. You also mention inconvenience and pollution, so the key points are relevant. However, the effects on you and your neighbours are only briefly stated, and the proposed solution would be stronger if you explained how quickly the council should act or suggested an interim collection schedule. The response is also 10 words below the required minimum, so it needs a little more development. The polite opening and closing suit a formal letter, although the prompt’s requested opening is “Dear Sir or Madam,” rather than “Dear Sir,”.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter follows a sensible overall order: it introduces the complaint, describes the collection problem, proposes a remedy, and closes politely. This makes the purpose easy to follow. You use linking expressions such as “due to this,” “also,” and “I look forward to hearing from you,” showing a workable range of cohesion. Some connections are less smooth, however: the first paragraph joins several ideas in one long sentence, and “due to this” is not clearly separated from the preceding clause. Separate the description of the truck shortage from its consequences, and use paragraphing to distinguish the problem, its effects, and your request. This would make the progression more controlled and less dependent on basic linking phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for communicating the complaint, with relevant terms such as “garbage collection service,” “dump truck,” “inconvenience,” and “pollution.” The reader can understand the central issue, and you attempt some formal language in “consideration” and “solution.” However, several word-choice, spelling, and collocation problems reduce precision: “socity” should be “society,” “environment pollution” is more naturally “environmental pollution,” and “in my earliest convenience” does not express the intended meaning. “Poor” and “problem” are also quite general; more precise wording would help describe the service failure. Aim to use accurate formal phrases and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You communicate the main message using both simple statements and some more extended structures, including “I would be greatly appreciate it if you could look at this matter…” The meaning is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “there is only one dump truck” would be better as “there has been only one dump truck” for a situation continuing over the last few days; “the number of dump truck should increased” needs a plural noun and a passive form (“the number of dump trucks should be increased”); and “I would be greatly appreciate it” should be “I would greatly appreciate it.” The long sentence beginning “For the last few days” also needs clearer punctuation or division into shorter sentences. Review verb forms, agreement, and sentence boundaries.
