Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

Mamta Khanna on behalf of residence of Orange County scoiety. I would like to address, the issue we are facing from past two month from our rubbish collection team. They aren't visiting for garbage pickup on regular basis. From past, two months collection team is not visiting our society on allocated time. They have started visiting just once a week without any prior intimation, Which earlier use to be every alternate day.

We did try to reach out to local/ground team first, but somehow unable to get through right point of contact, which lead to further more delay.

Sir, we have 50 families in our society, which means a huge number of indiviuals per family, the amount of garbage collect on daily basis does required alternate days pick up else it gets piles-up and lead to contemination and unhealthy enviornment for kids and elderly people around. It's also very unhygeinc and could lead to many health related problems to sensitive indiviuals.

If collection team is facing any issue with our society or any particular house hold, do let us know, We are very much open to discuss and help. We would love to provide our full support in best of our capacity.

Do let us know a good time to connect on call or in person in office any time soon. Looking forward for a positive response.

Warm Regards

Mamta Khanna

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three required points: it explains that collection has fallen from every alternate day to once a week, describes the resulting hygiene and health concerns for families, children and older residents, and invites the council to discuss the issue. The specific details about the 50 families and the previous schedule make the complaint relevant and credible. However, the requested action is not fully clear: asking for a time to connect and offering support does not explicitly request that regular collections resume or that the council investigate the service. The possible issue with a particular household is also raised without explanation. State the remedy directly, then briefly develop any offer to cooperate so the purpose is unmistakable throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The information follows a generally sensible order: the opening identifies the problem, the next section explains the failed attempt to contact the team, and the later paragraphs describe the effects and invite discussion. This gives the letter an overall coherent arrangement. Some connections are less smooth, however. The opening repeats the two-month period and missed visits, while “From past” and “We did try” do not clearly distinguish the timeline or the steps taken. The long sentence beginning “Sir, we have 50 families” combines several effects and becomes difficult to follow. Use clearer paragraph breaks for the problem, its impact and the requested action, and connect each point with precise references rather than repeating the same information.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses relevant vocabulary for a formal complaint, including “allocated time,” “prior intimation,” “contamination,” and “health related problems.” These choices show an attempt to describe both the service failure and its consequences. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “scoiety,” “indiviuals,” “unhygeinc,” and “enviornment,” and some phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “garbage collect on daily basis does required” and “right point of contact.” These issues reduce the accuracy and polish of the message, even though its main meaning remains understandable. Check spelling carefully and favour natural collocations such as “missed collections,” “contact the relevant department,” and “a build-up of rubbish.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

There is some variety in sentence forms, including a conditional sentence (“If collection team is facing any issue…”) and a relative clause describing the collection schedule. The main message is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For example, “Mamta Khanna on behalf of residence” is a sentence fragment, and “They aren't visiting for garbage pickup on regular basis” is missing articles. In “the amount of garbage collect on daily basis does required alternate days pick up,” the verb forms and sentence structure are difficult to follow. There are also issues with tense and agreement in “which lead to further more delay.” Use complete sentences, check articles and subject–verb agreement, and simplify the most crowded sentence about the health effects.
