Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the broad topic and note two valid overall patterns: refrigerator ownership rose sharply, while weekly housework time fell from its highest point to its lowest. However, the response reports almost none of the chart’s key comparisons or figures, and the overview is partly inaccurate: washing-machine ownership did not simply fluctuate throughout, and vacuum-cleaner ownership rose steadily rather than only in the final year. The charts also show refrigerators reaching 100% by 1980 and vacuum cleaners reaching 100% by 2000, which are important features to select. The response is 69 words, so it does not meet the 150-word minimum; this leaves the task only minimally addressed. Add a concise overview and support it with accurate figures across the period.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure: an introductory sentence followed by an overview, and “Overall” signals that the second paragraph is intended to summarise the main patterns. This gives the reader some organisation. However, there is little progression beyond a sequence of brief claims, and the relationship between the appliance trends and housework hours is not clearly developed. Connectors such as “Then” and “Afterwards” do not accurately show the chronology or logic of the data, while “However” introduces a contrast that is not clearly explained. The overview would be easier to follow if you grouped the rising appliance ownership together, then described the decline in housework hours, using clear time references and comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “electrical products,” “refrigerator,” “washing machine,” and “housework,” so the topic is generally recognisable. There are also attempts at more formal reporting language, such as “demonstrate” and “significantly.” However, several choices are imprecise or unnatural: “modifications of electrical products” does not describe changes in household ownership, and “number of time” is not an appropriate expression. “Escalated” is also an awkward choice for a gradual increase in a chart. Spelling errors in “Vaccum” and “fluctuated” (used in a way that does not match the data) reduce precision. Use standard chart language such as “the proportion of households owning…” and “rose steadily.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of sentence forms, including an introductory sentence and several sentences with time-related clauses. Some basic meaning is understandable, but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “Overall, initial period in the electrical appliances the refrigerator jumped significantly” lacks a clear grammatical structure and article use. In “Then people used washing machine fluctuated throughout the period,” the subject and verb do not form a workable sentence. The phrase “number of time spent to do work beginning year is the maximum hour spent” also has problems with noun forms, sentence structure, and agreement. Practise writing complete subject–verb sentences, with accurate articles and verb forms, before adding more complex clauses.
