Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the two broad trends: refrigerator ownership rises sharply and then levels off, while housework time declines (though the latter is not developed in your response). However, the account is only partial and several comparisons are inaccurate. The washing-machine line did not start at the highest level: it began at about 40%, below the vacuum cleaner at 30% only if comparing those two, and below neither? More importantly, the refrigerator was lowest at about 2%. Washing-machine ownership rose overall, with a dip around 1980, rather than ending at a lower value. You also omit the housework figures and its substantial fall from 50 to 11 hours. Report an overview covering all series, then select accurate key figures and comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview and separate paragraphs beginning “Firstly” and “On the other hand.” These markers help the reader recognise a change of focus. However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow because several claims are unclear or contradictory, such as saying washing-machine ownership starts at the “higest percentage” and later reaches 70%. The overview also does not establish the main pattern across all four series, and the housework trend is left out. Some linking phrases, including “like this,” do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. Organise the body by trends or series, and use clear references and transitions to connect each figure to the comparison being made.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage,” “rapidly,” “stable,” and “flucated,” and use terms such as “lead position” to describe rankings. However, the range is limited and many spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the account difficult to understand: “electric applicant,” “lease popular,” “pick leval,” and “compit” are examples. Some expressions are also unnatural for describing data, such as “get sky rocket” and “least valuable electric item.” Use standard chart language and check spelling carefully. Words such as “ownership,” “proportion,” “increase,” “decline,” “peak,” and “level off” would help you describe the trends more precisely and consistently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You make attempts to combine ideas, for example, “it reach the value of 55 percentage and make the second lead possition,” but sentence structures are often faulty and the reader has to work to understand the intended meaning. Verb forms and agreement are inconsistent: “it reach,” “it stable,” and “the washing meshin is start” need forms such as “it reached,” “it remained stable,” and “washing-machine ownership started.” Articles and sentence boundaries are also problematic, as in “In the other hand” and the run-on after “position.” Most sentences rely on simple patterns, while attempts to extend them often lead to errors. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and use shorter, correctly punctuated sentences before adding more complex clauses.
