Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both charts and identify the main overall patterns: appliance ownership generally rose, while weekly housework time fell. Several figures are also reported accurately, including washing machines at 40% in 1920 and refrigerators reaching 100% in 1980. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: washing-machine ownership was about 70%, not 60%, in 1960, and the refrigerator began at about 2%, rather than 0%. The overview also says the washing-machine figure “remain constant,” although it changes over the period, and the vacuum-cleaner trend is described only generally. To make the report more complete, state the key contrasts clearly, including that refrigerators and vacuum cleaners reached 100%, while washing machines remained lower and fluctuated slightly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: it introduces the appliance trends, gives some supporting figures, and then turns to housework hours. Basic linking phrases such as “Secondly,” “On the other hand,” and “Overall” help signal these shifts. However, progression is uneven because the overview is mixed with details, and the final housework paragraph appears after “Overall,” making the organisation feel less controlled. Repeated phrases such as “very rapid change” and “in the given graph” also make the account repetitive rather than developing comparisons. Group the overview first, then describe the appliance data together and the housework trend in a separate paragraph, using clear comparisons between series.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “rise,” “decrease,” “reaches,” “remain constant,” and “per week,” so the reader can follow the general trends. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated or imprecise, such as “very rapid change” and “constant increas.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “mechine,” “pessage,” “repid,” and “decreasd,” which reduce clarity and control. Choose precise verbs for the data: figures can “increase,” “decline,” “level off,” or “fluctuate.” Also use “ownership” or “the proportion of households” when describing percentages, rather than repeatedly referring to a “graph” or “chart.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, for example, “On the other hand refrigerator has very rapid rise in its chart which rise from 0% in 1920.” This shows an effort to connect information, but sentence structures and verb forms are often inaccurate, and some sentences are difficult to follow. Examples include “washing machine starts from 1920” and “it has decreas in its graph”; the subject and verb forms need more consistent control. Articles and agreement are also missing in phrases such as “the refrigerator has” and “vacuum cleaner also have.” Use a reliable pattern such as “The proportion of households with refrigerators rose from about 2% in 1920 to 100% in 1980.” Check sentence boundaries and punctuation so each comparison is expressed clearly.
