Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered all parts of the task by describing the appliance ownership and the decline in housework hours. However, the report could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the two sets of data, rather than just describing them separately. For instance, you could explicitly link the point where appliance ownership reached 100% to the plateau in housework hours. The data points are generally accurate, though ensure you distinguish clearly between the different appliances to avoid confusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each graph, and a concluding summary. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Over the years' and 'In 1920', to manage the flow of information. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider range of linking words and transition phrases to connect your sentences more fluidly, as some transitions currently feel a bit mechanical or repetitive.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. Phrases like 'steady growth', 'rapid growth', and 'all time high' are used effectively. There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'gained a rise in popularity by 100%', which is slightly awkward phrasing. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations when describing trends and avoid repeating the same sentence structures. Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the sophistication required for the highest bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are a few grammatical errors, such as 'The below line graphs represents' (subject-verb agreement) and 'in 1940' (capitalization). Additionally, 'the number of hours were steady' should be 'was steady' to agree with the singular subject 'number'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and basic punctuation to improve your accuracy.
