Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the charts, identifying trends in appliance ownership and housework time. However, the analysis is somewhat inconsistent. For instance, the claim that 'refrigerator took the zero percent of people attention' is inaccurate based on the provided data, and the description of trends is occasionally confusing, such as the statement regarding the 'peak' time in 1920. While the main features are selected, the comparison between the two charts is not fully developed or clearly linked, leading to some confusion in the reader's understanding of the data. More precise reporting of the specific percentages and years would improve the clarity of the task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear referencing. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall' and 'whereas', but they are often applied mechanically or incorrectly, such as 'on its contrary' and 'in 1920 onwards'. The progression of ideas is sometimes difficult to follow because the sentences do not always connect logically to the previous ones. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks the necessary cohesion to guide the reader smoothly through the data comparison.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of inaccurate word choice, such as 'the weak' instead of 'the week', 'the zero percent of people attention', and 'the tend to use these items started declined'. These errors occasionally impede communication, making the reader work harder to understand the intended meaning. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'appliances' and 'consumption', the lack of precision and frequent errors in collocation and word form prevent the response from reaching a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The trend of owning washing machine were fluctuated'), incorrect tense usage, and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and incorrect capitalisation (e.g., 'Overall, The trend'). While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar structures significantly impacts the overall quality of the writing.
