Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the charts, identifying the trends for both appliances and housework hours. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, the statement that 'washing machine had the highest number in 1920' is inaccurate based on the provided data, and the description of the trends lacks precision. While the key features are identified, the comparison between the two sets of data (appliances vs. housework time) is not fully developed or integrated. The report would benefit from a more careful selection of data points to support the trends described.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'on other side' and 'after that'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider range of linking words more naturally to connect the trends described.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several spelling errors (e.g., 'decard' for decade, 'decries' for decreases, 'ppercent') and awkward collocations like 'users of electrical machine' and 'climb top'. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on repetitive phrasing. To improve, you should focus on using more precise terminology for describing trends, such as 'significant increase' or 'steady decline', and ensure accurate spelling of key terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('users... increases'), incorrect preposition usage, and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing spaces after commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors would be beneficial.
