Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. Furthermore, the content is incomplete; the response stops abruptly mid-sentence and fails to address the second chart regarding the 'amount of time spent doing housework'. While the introduction and the first body paragraph attempt to identify trends, the lack of data coverage and the unfinished nature of the report mean that the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are covered and provide a complete analysis of all data sets provided in the charts.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is too short to demonstrate a clear logical progression or effective paragraphing. While there is an attempt at an introduction and a body paragraph, the abrupt ending prevents the development of a coherent structure. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic way, such as 'Overall' and 'Meanwhile', but the lack of completion makes the overall flow disjointed. To improve, focus on structuring your response with a clear introduction, an overview of the main trends, and distinct body paragraphs for each data set, ensuring that you complete your thoughts before moving to the next point.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and contains several errors in word choice and form, such as 'dramatic rose' (should be 'dramatic rise') and 'a housework' (should be 'housework'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the data accurately, relying on repetitive structures like 'ownership of'. There are also issues with word formation, such as 'slowly increased' (should be 'slow increase'). To improve, focus on using a wider range of nouns and verbs to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'surged', or 'a gradual decline', and ensure you use the correct parts of speech.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'amount of time takes a housework' (should be 'amount of time spent on housework') and 'reached at 100%' (should be 'reached 100%'). The sentence structures are simple and often contain errors in tense and preposition usage. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the errors in basic grammar are noticeable throughout the short text. To improve, practice subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions when describing data points and time periods.
