Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered both the appliance ownership and the housework hours, making relevant comparisons. However, the response lacks precision in reporting specific data points. For example, you mention '30 and 40 percent' for the appliances in 1920, but the graph shows different starting points. Additionally, the description of the trends could be more detailed by including more specific figures from the start and end of the period to support your observations. To improve, ensure you accurately extract data from the charts and use it to illustrate your points more effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Whereas', and 'According to', which help the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical, and the use of referencing could be more sophisticated. For instance, the transition between the discussion of appliances and the housework graph is abrupt. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear central theme that connects smoothly to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'amenities', 'domestic work', and 'downward trend'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'number of hours of households' (which should be 'hours spent on housework') and 'alterations occurs' (which should be 'alterations occurred'). Some phrasing is also slightly repetitive. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('The line graphs... gives', 'alterations occurs') and missing articles ('percentage of refrigerator'). While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to affect the overall fluency. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Proofreading your work for these small but frequent errors will help you achieve a higher score.
