Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all key features of the charts, including the trends for the three appliances and the inverse relationship with housework hours. The overview is clear and effectively highlights the main trend. However, some data points are slightly inaccurate or confusingly phrased, such as the claim that all appliances reached 100% by 2000, whereas the graph shows different trajectories. The comparison between the appliances is generally well-handled, but the analysis could be more precise regarding the specific timeframes and percentages to fully meet the requirements for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organised into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for the appliances, and a concluding summary. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Correspondingly', and 'Moving on further' are used to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing and some awkward transitions. The referencing is generally clear, but the paragraphing could be more refined to separate the appliance trends from the housework data more effectively. Overall, the progression of ideas is coherent.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with attempts to use descriptive terms like 'dramatically', 'fluctuates', and 'significantly'. However, there are several spelling errors ('obout', 'applinces', 'dramaticaly', 'gradualy', 'throghout', 'amout') and some word choice issues ('come in same zone'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not prevent the meaning from being understood. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and using more precise collocations for data description.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('washing machine and refrigerator become', 'all three appliances comes') and article usage ('the amount of', 'the usage of'). While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede communication. The control over punctuation is generally acceptable, but the sentence structure could be more varied to demonstrate higher proficiency. Focusing on consistent verb tenses and article usage will help improve the accuracy of the writing.
