Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement. While you have attempted to identify some trends, the analysis is incomplete and lacks the necessary detail to fully address the prompt. The description of the data is fragmented, and the response ends abruptly mid-sentence, meaning the final part of the data is not covered. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the charts are described, provide a clear overview of the main trends, and ensure the response is of sufficient length to allow for a full development of the information provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay lacks a clear structure. While there is an attempt at an introduction and an overview, the body paragraphs are poorly developed and lack logical progression. The use of cohesive devices is very limited, making the text feel disjointed. For example, phrases like 'on the other side' are used incorrectly, which disrupts the flow of information. To improve, focus on using clear paragraphing to separate different trends and employ a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'furthermore', 'consequently') to connect your ideas more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate. There are several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'electrical aminities' (amenities) and 'time spend by housework'. The repetition of basic terms like 'percentage' and 'proportion' indicates a need for a broader range of vocabulary to describe data trends. To improve, practice using synonyms and more precise collocations for describing graphs, such as 'witnessed a significant increase' or 'remained relatively stable'. Additionally, ensure you proofread for basic spelling errors to avoid distracting the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The grammatical control is weak, with frequent errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'number of hours... was gradually decrease') and incorrect tense usage. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and the attempt at a complex structure at the end is incomplete. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that verbs agree with their subjects and that tenses are used consistently when describing past data. Working on the correct use of articles and prepositions will also help improve the overall accuracy of your writing.
