Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends in appliance ownership and housework hours. You have successfully selected key data points to support your descriptions. However, the analysis could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the two charts, such as linking the rise in appliance ownership to the decline in housework hours. The overview is clear, but the description of the data is occasionally slightly mechanical. To reach a higher band, ensure that you synthesize the information rather than just listing the figures for each category sequentially.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the two different datasets. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In 1920' and 'By the end of 2019', which help guide the reader through the timeline. However, some transitions are a bit repetitive, and the use of cohesive devices could be more varied to improve the flow between sentences. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly, using terms like 'skyrocket', 'fluctuation', and 'intersect'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'experienced slight dropped' (should be 'drop') and 'usage of refrigerator was almost 0%' (should be 'the usage of the refrigerator'). While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, incorporating more precise collocations and avoiding minor grammatical errors in word forms would elevate the score. The range is functional but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as missing articles ('usage of refrigerator') and incorrect verb forms ('washing machine experienced slight dropped'). Additionally, some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'Vacuum cleaner rose with 20 points'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will help improve the overall accuracy of your writing.
