Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all parts of the task, including the trends for both appliances and housework hours. You have successfully identified the main features and made relevant comparisons. However, there are some inaccuracies in your data reporting. For instance, you state the washing machine was the 'least' in the period, but the graph shows it was the highest in 1920 and remained significant throughout. Additionally, your description of the refrigerator starting at 0% in 1920 is correct, but your summary of the washing machine's trend is slightly confusing. To improve, ensure your data points are precisely aligned with the visual information provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Meanwhile', 'However', and 'By contrast' to link ideas. While the progression is generally clear, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The referencing is mostly effective, though the flow between the appliance data and the housework hours could be smoother. Overall, the structure is appropriate for an Academic Task 1 response, and the information is presented in a way that is easy for the reader to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'significantly', and 'drastically'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'refrigerator experience' (should be 'experienced') and 'washing machine shared the highest proportion' (where 'accounted for' would be more natural). You also repeat the word 'usage' frequently. To reach a higher band, try to vary your vocabulary by using synonyms and more precise collocations related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'plateaued', or 'accounted for'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'refrigerator started at 0%, this number increased' (a comma splice), 'vacuum cleaner begun' (should be 'began'), and 'house work' (should be one word). There are also some issues with article usage and tense consistency. Despite these errors, they do not impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are punctuated correctly to avoid run-on sentences or comma splices.
