Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered all parts of the task by describing the appliance ownership percentages and the decline in housework hours. However, the report lacks precision in some areas. For example, you mentioned the vacuum cleaner reached 100% in 1920, which contradicts the chart. Additionally, the description of the washing machine's fluctuations is a bit repetitive. To improve, ensure you carefully verify the data points against the visual information and focus on grouping information more logically to highlight key comparisons rather than listing every data point chronologically.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You used some cohesive devices like 'In contrast' and 'Meanwhile' to transition between ideas. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'ended with it in 2019'. To reach a higher band, try to vary your linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data comparisons more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to describe trends such as 'increased', 'decreased', and 'declining'. However, the range is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic verbs and phrases. To improve, incorporate more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable'. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'recorded at 100% and ended with it', which sounds unnatural. Expanding your repertoire of synonyms for increase and decrease will help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('The washing machine in 1920 was 40%'), tense inconsistencies, and awkward phrasing ('it goes on increasing at fast rate'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Try to proofread your work to catch these small errors, as they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency of your writing.
