Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully identified the main trends in the data, noting the inverse relationship between appliance ownership and housework hours. However, the response lacks precision in reporting specific data points. For instance, you mention '40% and 30%' for 1920, but the chart shows different values, and your description of the 2000-2019 period is somewhat vague. To improve, ensure you accurately extract figures from the graph and provide a clear overview that highlights the most significant changes rather than listing data chronologically. The task is addressed, but the lack of accurate data interpretation limits the score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'the another one is for' or 'next four decades the trends follows as'. The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data comparison.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate to convey the main points, but it is quite repetitive and lacks the precision required for a higher band. Phrases like 'can easy the work' and 'standing for upward trends' are unnatural. You rely on basic descriptors and struggle with accurate collocations. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to trends and data analysis, such as 'fluctuate', 'significant increase', or 'gradual decline'. Avoid informal phrasing and focus on using words that precisely describe the movement of the lines on the graph.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the chart illustrate', 'trends follows') and incorrect verb tenses ('no one has refrigerator at that times'). While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often marred by errors that occasionally impede the flow of information. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures and ensuring consistent tense usage when describing historical data. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles ('a', 'the') and pluralisation will significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
