Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response is incomplete as it cuts off mid-sentence while describing the refrigerator data. Because the task is not finished, it fails to provide a full overview or report all main features of the data provided in the charts. While the introduction and the first body paragraph successfully identify the main trends, the lack of a conclusion and the incomplete description of the final data points significantly limit the achievement of the task. To improve, ensure you complete the analysis of all categories and provide a summary of the key findings.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay shows a basic logical structure with an introduction, an overview, and the start of a body paragraph. However, the abrupt ending disrupts the flow of the text. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'However', and 'In 1920' are used correctly to signal transitions between ideas. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that your paragraphing is fully developed and that the progression of ideas is not interrupted by an incomplete response. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the lack of completion prevents a full assessment of cohesive flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'trends', 'ownership', 'steep rise', and 'consistent decline'. There are some minor errors, such as 'the use of a three electrical appliances' (should be 'the three') and 'when ch owned' (a typo). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. Focus on using more varied collocations and ensuring accurate spelling to improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the use of a three electrical appliances' and 'The were no household', which indicate issues with articles and basic sentence construction. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall quality. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles when referring to data points. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will also help.
