Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all key features of the charts, including the trends for appliances and the inverse relationship with housework hours. The overview is present, though it could be more clearly integrated. The data is generally accurate, although there are some minor inaccuracies in the interpretation of the timeframes (e.g., stating the refrigerator stabilized for 'three years' rather than three decades). The main trends are identified, and comparisons are made between the appliances and the time spent on housework. To reach a higher band, ensure that the data points are described with greater precision and that the overview highlights the most significant trends more effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'it' is used as the subject for almost every sentence). There are issues with referencing, such as 'it remained stable almost one year', which is confusing. The flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed due to the lack of varied linking words. Improving the use of transition signals and varying sentence structure would significantly enhance the coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing for the description of trends such as 'upward trend', 'fluctuations', and 'decreased rapidly'. However, there is a lack of variety, and some word choices are imprecise or awkward, such as 'it stabilize at three years' or 'it almost constant three time'. The range is sufficient to convey the main points, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility or precision required for a higher band. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that verbs and nouns are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include missing articles (e.g., 'refrigerator and vacuum cleaner'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'washing machine fluctuations' instead of 'fluctuated'), and punctuation errors, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters after periods. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and tense consistency. While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are frequent enough to impede the flow of the text. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be beneficial.
