Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response attempts to summarise the data, but it is incomplete as it cuts off mid-sentence at the end. While you identify the main trends for appliance ownership, the description of the housework hours is underdeveloped and lacks a clear conclusion. You have selected key features, such as the rise in refrigerator and vacuum cleaner ownership, but the analysis of the washing machine data is slightly inaccurate regarding the timeline. To improve, ensure you complete your sentences and provide a more thorough comparison between the two charts, specifically linking the rise in appliance ownership to the decline in housework hours more explicitly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the use of 'where' to connect clauses. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing, making the flow feel disjointed. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') and ensure that your referencing is precise so that the relationship between the appliances and the time spent on housework is clearly established.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'appliences', 'flactutes', 'usuage', 'vaccume', 'aproximately'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader. You have attempted to use some topic-specific vocabulary, but the range is limited, and word choice is sometimes imprecise, such as 'sharp inclined' instead of 'sharp increase'. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common academic terms and try to incorporate more precise collocations to describe trends, such as 'a significant rise' or 'a steady decline'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include incorrect verb forms ('most of the people are depend'), missing articles, and subject-verb agreement problems. Punctuation is also inconsistent, and the incomplete final sentence significantly impacts the overall grammatical control. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors prevents the text from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentences are complete and grammatically sound.
