Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the task by identifying main trends, but the accuracy of the data reporting is problematic. For example, the claim that washing machine ownership was 0% in 1920 is not supported by the provided charts, and the description of the trends is often confusing or contradictory. While you have attempted to select key features, the lack of precision in interpreting the data prevents a higher score. To improve, ensure that your summary accurately reflects the visual information provided and avoid making unsupported claims about the data points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'In 1920 to 1960' and 'In 1980 to 2019'. Transitions between ideas are sometimes abrupt, and the logical progression is hindered by the confusing data reporting. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'highest proportion electrical use' and 'using of electricity become more and more lesser'. You rely on basic descriptors and struggle with accurate collocations. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise terminology related to trends and data, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable', and work on using adjectives and adverbs to describe changes more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'refrigerator and vacuum cleaner was'), incorrect tense usage, and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy.
