The charts below show the changes in ownership of electrical appliances and amount of time spent doing housework in households in one country between 1920 and 2019.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graphs illustrate the variations in ownership of electrical appliances and the amount of time spent doing the household chores in one country from 1920 to 2019. The first chart shows the percentage of households with washing machines, refrigerators, and vacuum cleaners. While the other represents the number of hours per week.

Overall, the use of refrigerators and vacuum cleaners increased throughout the period. However, the percentage for washing machines fluctuated over the period. The number of housework hours showed a significant decrease by the end of the period.

The percentage of refrigerators started from 0% and surged significantly to 90% in 1960, and grew again to reach 100% at the end of the period. Similarly, there were 30% of households using vacuum cleaner in the beginning and rose dramatically to 100%. Additionally, the percentage of households using washing machines increased from 40% to around 70% in 1960, which then showed a slight decline to almost 63% in 1980, and then grew again to approximately 73% in 2019.

The number of hours of housework per week plummeted over the period starting from 50 hours to almost 10 hours by the end.
