Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends for the three appliances and the housework hours. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, the description of the washing machine's trend is slightly inaccurate regarding the 1980s data, and the overview is a bit disjointed. While you have selected key features, the comparison between the rise in appliances and the decline in housework hours could be more explicitly linked to demonstrate a deeper understanding of the data. To improve, ensure that your overview clearly synthesizes the relationship between the two sets of data rather than just listing individual trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'However' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear; for example, 'The trend didn't stopped here' is vague. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is generally logical, but the transition between the appliance data and the housework data could be smoother to create a more cohesive narrative throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'rose at', 'got popular', and 'stood at'. There are also some word choice errors, such as 'number of time' (should be 'amount of time') and 'declination' (a less natural choice than 'decline'). To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise collocations and a wider range of vocabulary related to trends and data analysis, such as 'fluctuated', 'plateaued', or 'a significant downward trend'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement. Examples include 'refrigerator was introduce' (should be 'introduced'), 'The trend didn't stopped' (should be 'didn't stop'), and 'housework hours was' (should be 'were'). While you attempt some complex sentence structures, these are often marred by errors, which can occasionally impede the flow of reading. Focusing on basic accuracy, such as ensuring correct past tense forms and subject-verb agreement, will significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
