Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of both charts, identifying the trends in appliance ownership and the decline in housework hours. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For example, the statement that the refrigerator and vacuum cleaner saw '100% growth' is inaccurate based on the visual data, and the description of the washing machine's rise is slightly imprecise. To reach a higher band, you should provide more precise data points and a more analytical comparison between the two trends, such as explicitly linking the rise in appliances to the reduction in housework time.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. Phrases like 'In the very first chart' and 'Coming to the second chart' are functional but basic. The transition between the two charts could be smoother to better highlight the relationship between the data sets. Paragraphing is present, but the logical flow between sentences within the paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on simple descriptors like 'significant growth' and 'great use'. There are also some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'clearner' instead of 'cleaner' and 'comparision' instead of 'comparison'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to trends and data, such as 'upward trajectory', 'plummeted', or 'proportion', rather than repeating 'growth' and 'rise' multiple times.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'between this years' (should be 'these years') and 'The vacuum clearner and refrigerator has seen' (subject-verb agreement error: 'have seen'). Additionally, punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with spaces before commas. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent pluralisation to improve accuracy.
