Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered all parts of the task by describing the changes in appliance ownership and the reduction in housework hours. The inclusion of specific data points, such as the 100% ownership of refrigerators by 1980 and the decline of housework to 10 hours by 2019, demonstrates a good grasp of the information. To reach a higher band, ensure you make more explicit comparisons between the two sets of data—for example, linking the rise in appliance ownership directly to the reduction in time spent on housework as a cause-and-effect relationship.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the appliances and the housework time. You use some cohesive devices effectively, such as 'In contrast' and 'Similarly'. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Whilst , consumption of time...'. Additionally, there are minor punctuation issues, such as spaces before commas, which slightly disrupt the flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring consistent paragraph structure will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points clearly. You use terms like 'declined', 'increased significantly', and 'varied' appropriately. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'number of time' (should be 'amount of time') and 'consumption of time' (which is not a natural collocation in this context). Additionally, 'owed' is used instead of 'owned'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on more precise collocations will improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'percentage of household that owned' (should be 'households'), 'Washing machine started' (missing an article: 'The washing machine'), and 'which rise sharply' (should be 'rose'). There are also some punctuation errors, specifically the inconsistent spacing before commas. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as well as ensuring your punctuation follows standard conventions.
